Sock, a knitted, woven, or cloth garment worn on the foot to provide warmth and protection. Common use of word includes, “sock”, to hit, strike, or punch hard.

버선 (Beoseon), Korean traditional socks. Common use of word includes the expression “버선 발로 맞으러 가다”, to greet someone so gladly that one forgets to even put on their shoes as they run out the door.

Sack, a large bag made of strong materials. Common use of word includes, “filling the sack”, “getting the sack”, “hitting the sack”.

보자기 (Bojagi), traditional Korean fabric that has been used for centuries to wrap and/or carry items. Mothers would take scraps of fabric, stitch them together to make a bojagi filled with precious belongings to send off their children with a blessing and a reminder of home.

These are items that were carried by many dis/placed bodies through distances with sudden beginnings and un/known ends.

Reflecting on Korean tradition, how do we carry the blessings of those before us, and the anticipation of warm greetings, through the fabric of a city on our daily walks? How do we move to take notice of the textures within a space and those around us?
